Gentlemen,
I plugged my WUD USB connection into my new laptop and my old lap top. Neither recognized the vehicle computer. The WUD screen appears in both laptops, it just is not communicating with the vehicle computer.
I am checking to find if I need a driver for the program or perhaps I have a less then adequate connection somewhere?
I was looking for any computer connection/setup instructions. I can not find any information other than the installation instructions.
Take care,
Tom K.

Usb or serial out of the ebl??
BobR with dynamic is very helpful.
The cord needed can be kinda specific. I ordered one off amazon and it did not work. Bob sent me one and that worked perfectly.

Jon,
It is USB and I too bought it off Amazon. I may have to find another cord.
Thanks,

Did your EBL come with a serial cable connection or the USB? If USB you shouldn't have to buy a special cable unless you need USB C. Is the Amazon cable you bought a USB to USB C cable? Did you select a port in WUD? In Windows, go to Control Panel, then Device Manager. Scroll down until you see Ports (COM & LPT). Click the down arrow and you will see a list of ports (if any are used - if you have another USB device that works plug that in and out and you should see a port appear and disappear). Then plug in the USB and see if appears. Note the Port Number, then go to the WUD, select 'File', then COMM Port and highlight that COM Port number and select it. With ignition on, you should see coolant temp, MAP, Voltage and other info. There will be a spinning gear on the right top of the screen.
Or call BobR at Dynamic EFI.

Jon and Bill,
I used my older laptop and the WUD works great. I found that I have to get a com port driver as the new windows 10/11 in the new computer no longer has com ports readily available. I had to reactivate legacy soft ware which is stored in windows 10. now I am trying to get it to run and sense the com port.
The good news is that all WUD/EBL connections are good and the WUD reflects the steam gauge readings with the exception of oil pressure on the digi which may need calibration. I still have a high engine temp issue,
Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the fan clutch was causing the high engine temp issue. I will try a thermostat then I'm not sure of the next step.
Take care,
Tom K.

Google just told me that" For Windows 11 you can check what device is using what COM port from the Device Manager. It will be listed under the hidden devices. From the Device Manager, select View - Show Hidden Devices. Now when you expand the (PORTS) COM ports section you will see all of the COM ports listed there."
Maybe that will work.

Bill,
I followed the instructions as you posted and ended with:
"windows cannot determine the settings for this device. Consult the documentation that came with this device and use the resource tab to set the configuration. (Code 34)"
Resource settings allows for changes in I/O Range and IRQ. All this is Greek to me. But I am getting closer (I Hope).
Thanks for your help.
Take care,

Looking at the Amazon ad, it comes with W10 and claims it can be upgraded to W11 with some hacks. Did you install W11? I see it has a USB C charging port and a USB A port. I'd stick to the USB A port; you'll need the C port for charging anyway. Do you have a USB thumb drive you can plug into the USB A port to see if it finds it?
At what point did you get that message? When you expanded the Ports item in Device Manager, or before?
What is a 'steam gauge'? Neither the GM ECM nor EBL have a native oil pressure input. You might be able to add one to an EBL analog port, but you'd have to be sure the sensor provides 0-5 volts.

Bill,
Sorry, the steam gauge is the analog guage. In aviation, for some reason, we've called them steam gauges (slang). Now days you have steam gauges or a glass panel. Funny also because the glass panel isn't even glass.
I got the message after I activated the com port in the Device Manager and following the instructions. I can always do a factory reset if necessary, as the computer is a clean slate and will only be used as a monitor in the TRIP display.
I should have said oil pressure reading on the Digi panel.
Yes, I plan to use the USB A. The WUD works well on my older laptop in USB A. I'm sure it will work on the new computer, I am just not sharp enough at this time to figure it out.
Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it.
Take care,
Tom K.
