I have a non Toro 455 with a bad block, the cly bores are very rusted, it would need to be sleaved.
it has c heads, not sure if it has the good valve covers, not a Toro intake, crank may be OK
I'm planning on selling the heads and valve covers unless they are the good one and scrapping the rest
is there anything else I should salvage?

Keith,
There are three Olds 455 crankshafts.
One is a forged steel and it looks very different than the cast cranks. Those are valuable as the cast do not hold up to high horsepower.
Of the two that are cast, the gray iron are not worth much and do not wear well, but if there is a N cast into one of the throws (front iirc) that is a nodular (regularly referred to as noodle iron) crank and they are almost as good as steel.
That plug to lube the distributor gear is a 5/16 square. If you have a friend with a mill, he can make the tool out of a bolt in a heart beat. The next best answer it to find a 5/16 lathe tool bit and use that and a wrench. Push comes to shove, I can mail you the one I made.
The C cylinder heads did not have hardened valve seats, but they are valued for their large ports. These will wear badly with modern fuels. Hardened seats didn't start until G, but hardened seats can be put in but must be Olds and not Chevy seat as those are thicker and cutting for them will hit the water jacket. (That head is scrap.) The also don't have the deeper spring pockets to accommodate the rotators. I do not know if these can be machine in those castings.
No matter how bad the bores look, try to have someone clean one and measure one. I am told that piston up to 0.060 over are available.
