I have an old pod that I am considering installing. Looking things over, it doesn't really appear that any of the ribs will line up with the screw holes. The question is, do I just use sheet metal screws with a bunch of goop and call it a day? I have some self tapping #10 x 1/2. Should I use bigger maybe? Any thoughts are welcome....Thanks

Probably the best way to anchor the pod to your roof is with riv-nuts or well nuts. My pod is fastened to the roof with eight riv-nuts and machine screws, I think either #10 or #12. My roof leaked badly until I took the pod loose and put vinyl hose washers around the riv-nuts to seal the holes from water intrusion. Inside the pod are large fender washers to distribute the stress over a larger area of the mounting points on the pod floor.

There is several good charging mounts still available for the older iPod (assuming it is usb and not the original firewire model) I will take a photo of one and send to you.

You can also get mounts that will plug into the lighter.

If you want the iPod to play through the stereo, you can get charging mounts that have an FM transmitter or a audio jack that will plug into some radios (if you have upgraded)

Just for fun, I got a 8 track to Cassette adapter, the put a cassette to audio jack adapter in that, then hooked up an iPhone. Very Happy

Carl,

This is funny!

An87ttype is talking about a ROOF POD not an IPOD! Laughing
