DT has a Norcold 726 DE that is running fine but needs a new door gasket (Part # 613507 if anyone know where to buy one).

This frigde is original and dual voltage 12/120v however so was it only running on 12v and draining the batteries really fast so I took a look at the electrical wireing.

Since Big green is pretty empty on the inside it is easy to follow the original harness and it has a seperate wiring for the fridge and vacuum cleaner but I was not able to find it on DT.

So back to the interior wiring diagrams for the 1973-74 and sure enough, if you did order the vacuum cleaner you would also get 120v for the fridge, DT did not have the vacuum option and did not get 120 for the fridge..

Anyways under the fridge I found the 120 to 12v converter and relays, and nicely hidden away and seald the 120v hookup, well I just had to try it so I made a temperary connection and turned the power on.
Badabing !! the relay did clik and the fridge start right up !
So the unused 120v circuit works as a charm on a fridge that has been draining batteries for over 40 years, now I will just make a permanent connection and enjoy the rest of the day Smile

I went on the same quest and was told to find a refrigeration place that makes gaskets. Take the old gasket so they can ascertain the profile, and the old door so they can measure it.

an alternate part number is 613736

Here is a URL for the parts diagrams and lists for every part in that refrigerator. Some parts are still available, unfortunately, gaskets are not.

I can get one custom made for it, but it will take 6-8 weeks so I was hoping that it was possible to get a new one over the counter, as DT is a very low budget coach maybe I should just try to make something out of a door gasket from a junk fridge.

How about a photo of the seal, measurements, and a sketch of the cross section maybe we can come up with something that will work?

In the US, you can buy a door gasket kit at any refrigeration supply store. There come as four assembled corners (90°) that you cut and fit and then cut the magnetic strip to fit in the seals. I have no idea if such a kit is available in Europe.

One more word on this thread. According to the article at

using a modified sine wave inverter (sized appropriately, and as efficient as you can find) to convert the 12vdc to 120vac to feed the 120vac input of the fridge actually reduces battery drain.

Ref test 3 of the article.

That is probably because of the inefficient design of the original internal circuitry that converts the 12vdc to 60Hz ac before it is stepped up to the 23vac that runs the compressor.

Also note that the OEM swing motor compressor is tightly tuned to 60Hz power, and even a small deviation (higher or lower frequency) can damage it. I suspect that is why GM did not wire the originals into the AC power supply, as the generator does not produce 120V 60Hz as reliably as shore power. GM didn't want the fridge failing because the generator surges and such when the roof AC or the water heater kicks on. The fridge is supposed to run off the converter when plugged into shore power. So it was always running off 12vdc as GM designed it.

If you are running it off 50Hz power, it won't last long.
