Place your bets, will we make it ? 1480 Miles

Gadabout II departs Tuesday from Las Vegas, NV to our shop in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

I will be driving, the Gadabout with our Race Team Transporter following for assistance if needed. We have a spare transmission loaded, no engine.

The Gadabout has not been driven in over 10 years, seems to run fine. New tires.

Bets as follows:

1. Breaks down and needs a Tow
2. Make it to Edmonton , no problems
3. Minor repairs needed
4. Major repairs causing more than 1 day delay
5. Your best guess.

Route will be Salt Lake City, Butte Mt, Great Falls, Calgary AB, Edmonton, AB

I will update photos at this link as we make our way...

No sweat. #3 fuel filter, perhaps. These things just sit and wait for someone to being them to life. Then they charge down the road just like they did before parked.

My best guess...

at least two minor incidents...

--belts first
--fuel pump leak on day 2 or 3 (the old pumps seem to fail fairly quickly after a coach has been sitting for some time)

Does this mean that #4 is already come to pass, and the poll is moot?

If you are going to buy new, get the AL radiator drop shipped, great upgrade, and OBTW, having done this by myself in a driveway last year, take the grill out for the install.

ignition module will quit when u go to restart after fueling.
but i guess if you replace it quick enough you can just call it an extended rest stop.

If you have seen his support vehicle you should know that's not likely. And if you did have to spend time between the transporter and the new gadabout you wouldn't exactly be roughing it. Have a safe trip!

I'll guess number 2, except that while refueling at one point gas will gush all over the place due to dry cracked fuel lines. You'll beat it out of the gas station and not look back, and stop for gas every 200 miles after that. And one headlight will stop working.

Good luck. Smile

Congratulations to those who picked option 3 - we have been delayed by at least 1 day . Did not move 10 feet today. You have first round bragging rights .

Rad started leaking as we were getting ready to hit the road. Had a shop in Vegas eliminate the bad section and pressure test. 50/50 if it will make it home.

Round two starts now.... Same rules, double odds on the Rad making it or not Confused
