Our friends Doug and Irene pulled out yesterday from Vacaville heading to the rv Capitol of the Southwest yesterday. We have been tracking them as they travel. Doug shut her down near Yucaipa, another of our favorite winter time spots. There is now a street view available on the APRS tracking site. Of course it is not live but will let you know about the surroundings of the area.
In my opinion Southern Ca. And Arizona are hard to beat in the winter months. Teri and I hope to spend many more January s there once we recover. Just tired of not being able to participate with our friends.
The tracking website is. aprs.fi. Just fill in the party's call sign or the town you want to watch. We have trackers in all of our vehicles. Tuesday the one in our car will be on so our kids can see where we are should they be interested, as we travel to doc appt in St. Louis and back. Some use a cell phone tracker.
Anyway, let us know who is taking pictures and where they are posted. I will anxiously be awaiting. Next year we will drag Ken B back out and post lots of pictures on our blog.
Dan
Ps
Thanks for cards and emails. They just keep coming. Got 4 cards and 3 emails yesterday, friends checking on us. We feel good when the mail man runs.

Doug must have had trouble sleeping. He is rolling and almost to Blythe. Only 6 am in California and he has been rolling for a couple of hours. Irene must have told him to hit the road.

Thanks Jim.
I watched Doug come up the pass, eastbound on I-10. Only dropped to 53 mph. He is towing the little Geo he got from Steve.. Good job. He has a set of Jim K's gears. His call is KC7ADD
Quartzsite is coming alive.

Doug is kicked back napping after breakfast, just west of Blythe. He has a very low watt, 300mw, transmitter. May not hit the repeating stations coming into Quartzsite.
Not of interest to all here but we have several hams that have these tracking systems in the GMC.

Ain't Bert and Fay there? Call Bert to post a few photos.
All I can see are the radio operators tracking systems. Several showed up this week and are still coming.

Lots of APRS traffic down at Yuma also. What is going on down there?

Hey;

Unless Bert can weld on it, he isn't going to use a computer. However,
the better half (Fay) can use one real good. Hopefully someone there will
have the interweb...

Hey Gary,

I see from your signature GMCWS has Menbers that seems a bit discriminatory unless they have Womenbers too? ;-)

You are probably right Gary, about Bert. I don't think he can type. Fay does all of that. Maybe she will post some pictures. May not have Internet yet.
Oh well next year we can post our own.
Ken, I think they have a hamfest before quartzsite at Yuma. I got lots of gear I need to take to a hamfest.

You might try ebay.

Some Ham Gear seems to go for high prices there. One item I'm looking for sold new for $110 ten years ago. I use to be able to buy them used for $50 or $60. Now they are selling used for $150 on ebay.
