Does anyone know of anybody making screen door for the GMC. I saw one recently that was one piece, curved to fit the body lines. Beautiful!!!!
Unfortunately the owner of the coach (it was one there when he bought the coach) didn't know who, when or where it was installed or how long ago it was put on.
I haven't had much luck in locating any anywhere - stores or the Internet.
Thanks, Steve

I'm still waiting for my order to be filled from the fellow who bought the
Burch screen door.some years ago. Haven't heard from him for a long
time. I think I was #5 or 6 in line to buy one? Anyone know of it's
progress??? Has the price changed any in the past four years??????

Dan - Thanks...I spoke to Applied. At the moment they don't have any and don't know when or if they will.
Sometime ago, I saw one made by someone or someplace named Alex (I think). It's, I guess what I'm looking for.
Thanks again, Steve

Steve-
Suggest that you contact Bob Burkitt in Cincinatti. He has assumed the
support ofr Alex Birch screen doors. Great guy, very reasonable.

I bought one of the original Alex Birch doors (used) for $200, but it won'Hi t fit
because of my curtains. Door looks to be in good shape but could use a new lower
screen. If anyone wants it for $200 I could bring it to Pueblo.

We have and stock the Ragusa Screen Door. It is not as nice looking as the
Birch unit but it fills the need. We have sold lot of them.

Does anyone by chance have the blueprints or design info on the Birch door components, maybe I'll just fab a screen door myself. Another project, oh God, Lisa is gonna shoot me !

Ray,
I'd think long and hard about that idea. The Birch screen door is made from
fairly common-looking basic extrusions, but I suspect they're custom made.
More than that, fitting one to the GMC doorway so that both doors will close
properly, with the screen door fitting the opening is a major task.
Before we went to Alaska, I was determined, based on past experience with
their state birds, that I'd have a screen door. Pete Pappas had a nice
spare Birch door which he let me have. I spent the entire next week of my
life trying to get that thing to fit right. For the 4 month trip to Alaska,
I had to "hunt a full size helper and a little boy every time" I wanted to
close the main door! That was the most difficult, least satisfying, most
unsuccessful, of the tasks in the entire ground-up restoration of the
X-Birch. Removal of that door was the first thing I did when we got home.
(Had few mosquito and deer fly problems in AK anyway.)
Was later told by many that it sometimes took Alex Birch himself all day to
get a door to fit right.
After having helped Jim B. install the first Ragusa he received several
years back, I'm certain that if I ever install another screen door, it will
be a sliding one similar to Dave G.'s Phantom.

Like I said in an earlier post. Why has Bob Burkitt tied up the door and
not produced any? Why not sell it to someone for what he paid for it, and
GET THIS IN PRODUCTION????? Since he's a GMC owner, that means he's got
"heart". So Bob B. Help out all your fellow GMC mates, and sell this
door!!!!!!!! I for one still want one!!!!!!! In the meantime, I'm getting
by for my Royale twin bed side bath model enjoying my Camper World screen
door that hangs from the top of the entryway behind the upholstered panel
(head protector).A little Velcro to keep it closed and it is "cheaper".
Though a pain for entering.

The GMC's not having a screen door designed in was a BIGGEE as far as I'm concerned........travel trailers of the early 50's had screen doors. But.....like all that GM did, outstanding on one end, fall short on the other. JMHO
