Hey guys,
I’ve got a freshly built motor to put into my MH, and i need a few pieces:
Intake
Oil Pan
Front motor mount
Variety of vacuum valves/fittings on top of the intake
Possibly a PS pump stud, I think I may still have mine
Probably a torque converter
I can see a few choices for new aluminum 455 manifolds on eBay for around $400, though I suspect they’re not really quite the right thing. Some of them do lack a crossover. Most of them are single plane. There was also a manifold off a ‘72 car for $350 + $50 shipping, but i don’t know much about it, and I think it’s gone now
What is the tallest an intake can be without requiring a doghouse?
—Story below—
As you may (or may not) recall, I’m putting a rebuilt motor into my MH, as the old one was knocking. I pulled the old one almost two years ago now, and found a guy on Craigslist who said all the right things to make me think he would be a good choice.
Apparently not.
Anyway, Grant Schaffer loaned me his hoist, and I pulled the motor.
(Curiously, it was blue, with a ‘74 Passenger Car sticker on the valve cover. My rig is of course a ‘73)
I sent it off with my Craigslist contact, and he never came through. he did, apparently, pull it apart, and discovered a trashed thrust bearing, and recommended I replace the torque converter.
More recently, Grant put me in contact with the guy who built his last motor, Greg Landes of Millenium Motorsports in Temecula, and I picked a motor up from him almost six weeks ago now. It came with a pan, but it’s cracked. My old intake is with the craigslist guy, also cracked (allegedly)
Got any leads? I want to get Grant his hoist back sooner than later.
