Gas price rose to $2.39/litre ($8/US Gallon) in Victoria BC this morning. Yesterday’s price $2.21. So an overnight price hike of 18¢/litre (68¢ gallon)
Practically double the price at the beginning of the year. Just dandy. The price was cramping my style a bit before; Now? yikes!

Just thinking it might be better to scoot to Canada, then cross the country?

Bruce,
My bad, I did not pay attention to the details. I just thought with all the oil sands , you guys would have much cheaper fuel. And not having Biden as a president would be such a plus. I know Trudeau is giving you guys a little grief, but I could never imagine him being a worst president than Biden. I guess all politicians have a way of making the little guys suffer.
Looks like I'll just be camping in my driveway.
Take care of yourselves up North and I hope for the best for you guys as well,

Oil companies are posting record profits and setting high crude oil prices all over the world, don't think Biden and Trudeau have a whole lot to do with it.
My oil and gas stocks are up about 80% plus collecting dividends, it's the only way to beat them.

I just don't understand why Biden needs to crawl to OPEC when we were supplying so much oil less then 18 months ago?

From what I understand, oil-sands and frakking oil is only economically feasible if the price of crude is high, otherwise it's not worth getting it out of the ground. So companies keep the price high and make out like bandits at both ends.
Canada has lots of oil, but it's hard to get it to market. We still import oil to our eastern refineries because it's cheaper, plus the refineries aren't set up to refine the bitumen rich oil-sand crude.
We could certainly use a relief from some of the taxes on gasoline, but most of the rising price is just oil companies jacking up prices and profits.
Perhaps if Keystone XL had gone through it would have been a bit of a relief?

It's just like anything else, a matter of supply and demand. The oil companies must love it when the government types mess with the supply, especially when the demand is increasing by leaps and bounds. It makes it easy (necessary) for them to raise their prices. The best way to combat this is for the powers that be to stop cancelling oil and gas leases and pipeline projects.

The heavy Crude needs a specific kind type of refinery. BP spent several billion and several years modernizing Whiting, IN to handle just that. The other refinery capable of this is Texas City which also can do crude oil from Venezuela. Tight now Whiting is throttled down due to lack of crude coming from Western Canada. The crude they are getting is coming in by rail with higher transportation costs. They have the capability but not the product to refine. You should see the long trains tank cars moving through this area on the railroads.

Please we need to keep politics out of this..This is about GMC Motorhomes and not who is or isn't president or Prime Minister of Canada.

In a perfect world, Canada would build a refinery and refine the mud from the tar sands in situ.
The country's domestic consumption could be priced accordingly and well below world price.
Unfortunately, the world is NOT perfect.

My apologies ladies and gentlemen.
Just very disgusted how fast and how far fuel prices have gone up in a year and a 1/2. I spent a considerable amount of money refurbishing my RV only to find that fuel costs are going through the roof. If I would have known this before I started restoring my GMC, perhaps I wouldn't have embarked on this undertaking. I was hoping to go to as many GMC rallies and functions as possible, but it appears my plans may have to changed. I'm sure others may be in the same boat as well. Especially if one is on a fixed income.
Everyone take care,
Tom K.

You can still enjoy your coach on shorter excursions. And save on hotel and food by RVing not hoteling and dining out. Work done is still a good investment.
