Well I spent parts of the last few days getting my coach ready to go to Mansfield early Wednesday. Typical stuff Grease, air, fix a few things etc. This evening in my hangar, I pronounced it ready to go and headed home.
What is this?
The temp gage says 3/4 scale using the NAPA TS6469 sensor.
By the time I got 11 miles to home it says 7/8 and the oil pressure at an idle is 1/2 normal.
I just parked it in the drive at 11:15 PM and did no diagnosis.
Lot of things it could be:
1. Electrical Have to check alternator voltage
2. Bad connection
3. Bad sensor (NAPA does not stock it.) AZ has the Wells substitute.
4. Thermostat
4. Low on coolant but the low coolant light is not lighted.
5. Blown head gasket. I always think the worse.
I am sure there are many more possibilities.
It is out there cooling off. I am committed tomorrow already. Wednesday I was suppose to leave for Mansfield.
Oh well, we will have to see what is happening. Think I'll get a snack and go to bed.

Ken sounds like you have possibly a stuck or lazy thermostat....low on fluid just doesnt sound like something you"d miss.

It took 2.5 gallons to full it up. The water was leaking down from the front of the engine. I had other things I had to do today so I left it at that point. Stopped by Pep Boys and got a Cardone Select 21118H pump in case I need it. I will look at it later tonight. I am pretty sure it is the pump but it could be a hose in that area leaking.

Ken, you are probably on your way to OHIO, but your troubles caused me to walk 1.5 miles to my local Pep Buys (uphill) to buy one of those Cardone Select water pumps for replacing mine that is starting to make a little noise. When I got there (Pep Boys), I stood at the parts counter and a guy yelled (from the front of the store) "need something sir". I said that I needed some help unless I could have access to his shelving behind the counter. I handed him the number of the pump and said it wasn't in his system. I said I knew somebody that picked one up in Illinois just yesterday. That was when he said "well, that might be, but we are closing up". Nov 15 = last day for Pep Boys in Springfield, MO. They will be a BIG LOSS......NOT!! I would not have walked in there if you had not mentioned them in some other post. They are terrible and good riddance. Not of fan of the home town Irish Boys as they go to the computer and know nothing else. Wish we had a NAPA. Anyway, I had to walk 1.5 back home (uphill) and I think it was starting to snow. (I lied about the snow).

I caught the up hill in both directions. I spent most of the day installing it. This is the 3 time in 10 years. All of them were large impeller NAPA pumps. All of them failed the same way. The front seal. The first 2lasted 2 years each. This one lasted about 6 years. No more NAPA pumps for me.
I am not finished. The pump on and now I need to go remount the power steering bracket and fan. I intend to go back out there tonight and finish. I hope.
I am also not a fan of Pep Boys but I got the pump that I wanted.
I'm sorry about the long walk up hill both directions for nothing.
Anytime I work on something it is always uphill and I need to do everything at least 2 times. I also find at least two other things broken.

I remember the days when water pumps were easily rebuildable with
affordable DIY kits. Many of them had a greasing cup that you would give a
quarter turn once in a while that would squeeze a bit of grease into the
seal, or lacking that cup, had a grease zerk fitting.

Old??? Surely you jest. I remember a 1934 Plymouth, and a 1940 Pontiac as
having those grease fittings. That was only in the last Century. That's not
old.
