I just discovered my marker lights have been leaking and ruined the floor.
Before I replace the floor I want to fix the problem.
My marker lights are pretty loose in their mountings, and I'm not against total replacement of thats the way to go.
Has anyone come up with an ingenious solution?
Thanks
Keith

Replace the clearance lights on the roof with the new LED type that is the same shape and come with new gaskets. There were postings about it on the net or the facebook sites not long ago. If you repair the lights instead, be sure and seal the screws with RTV. The marker lights on the side have no hope of being watertight unless you put a fresh piece of foam gasket between them and the body.

oops sorry yes SIDE marker lights, although the clearance lights need help too...
The biggest issue it the trim and light have pulled away from the body leaving a BIG gap.
I guess I need to repair the mounting on that area and redo the seal?

The solution I use is a lot of goof around the hole, sealing the light. Ofcourse I will have to do this everyt time the light come of, but with led bulbs I would not expect that to be anytime soon
The alternativ would be a new light that does not require such a big hole
That said, it might not be these lights that ruin your floor as most water would run through the gab between the body and the floor. . Take a good look at your side windows . They are difficult as they have basic design flawes mine are still not a 100 procent

I took the inner panel off and the source is definitly theside marker light. I'm thinking an upgrade to the LEDs then glue the suckers on with 5200 and it'll be done.

Wally,
JimB removes the stainless steel and the --__-- shaped aluminum rubber "holder" on the early coaches and fits a flat piece of
aluminum down the whole side. It is attached with countersunk screws and sealed to the body with polyurethane (paintable) sealer.
You now have a flat surface to which you can fit any kind of marker lights you want. You can also fit any kind of rubber belt that
you want.
As far as replacing the OEM rubber I bought a roll from one of the vendors (can't remember which one) and installed it in the
drivers side when I arrived in Humble in March of last year. I did not cut it until Helen arrived in July and we were about to leave
on our yearly tour. It had shrunk at least three inches over that period! Before I cut it I pushed the rubber towards the middle to
compress it as much as I could. It had some waves in it but I was sure that it would shrink more and take them out.
If I remember I'll let you know what I find when I get back to Houston this year or you could send me a private message in the
middle of June as a reminder.
Regards,
Rob

Keith, Our rear side markers were leaking also. I did replace them with LEDS and a reflector a few years back. Pics of what I did.

The moulding has shrunk even more since. Any one know of a reasonable relacement for moulding?
