Well, I stalled as long as I could ... but, placed the ad on craigslist today;
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/4460524205.html
First response I get is from some guy claiming to be a microbiologist/oceanographer "on sea" who wants to buy the rig - at my price, sight unseen. Just give me your email and paypal account.
Riiight.
My answer was short and sweet: "I only do business face to face."
Anyway, the beast is officially up for sale, now I just have to gather all the things in one spot that go with it.

I got the same responses when selling my old Buick on Craigslist. It also happend on eBay when I was selling an old pinball machine. I'm still not sure how the scam works. Seems like giving an email address (paypal address) is not enough to do a lot of damage. I would like to know how it works so at least I can be an informed seller. If anybody knows that would be great...

Good luck on your sale! Its a shame you have to let it go...

From what I hear is that when you send them a PayPal account. They will send you back a email that looks like PayPal wanting you to verify your login info and account info. Giving them your password and financial info.

Sorry you're selling Mitch. Is the mileage in the ad (14242) correct? That seems almost impossibly low. Did you drop a digit?
