In early March (6-7-8) I am going to San Antonio Texas for some training
where I will hopefully learn how to sue rogue debt collectors. The training
is expensive, and the books are expensive, and gas to get there is also
expensive. I have asked on the Attorney mailing list if anybody wants to
split a hotel room at the conference hotel, but I'm still so new that they
don't know how awesome I am. We are still in the "your name is seriously
not really Robin Hood is it?" Stage.:-)

I sure could use a couch to sleep on in San Antonio, these $1300 a month
student loan payments are killing me. I can't afford three hotel nights.

I can be entertaining and tell funny stories and if you aren't even your
friends have any VA questions I can try to answer them. :-)

GMC content: if the palm beach were ready I could just drive it! The
alternative is sleeping in the back of my Subaru. :-)

Robin, might I suggest a legal name change? I have to admit that when you first started posting to the gmc net you were thoroughly vetted by the self appointed sensors of this site largely do to your name and it's lack of believability that it and you were for real. As a marketing major I must volunteer at my own and possibly your own peril that in certain ( most other than fireside ) circumstances this name could be a serious detriment to you being taken seriously. Serious. But please keep the videos coming.

Luv u Robin.

Isn’t it curious how much we associate with a name. The name Todd Sullivan, though I’ve never met you, makes me think of a gregarious Irishman who knows his way around a pint, though I’ll admit I can’t recall the many posts you made (as opposed to many others on the list).

Robin Hood stuck out as memorable from his first post. Of course in time we grew to enjoy his humor and personality, but the name caught my attention immediately. I’ll admit confusing him with Marsha of Possum Run fame, but his name was immediately memorable, though I didn’t know his gender.

No, I wouldn’t change his name any more than I’d change a Sullivan, Meuller, Henderson, or Canoftomatoes. Now those fellows running around with two first names - there’s a case for a name change - Chris Tyler, or Dan Gregg, come on, now...

That idea does have some merit. But I won't do it. It's a two-edged sword,
and from a marketing standpoint it's gold. Other attorneys wish they had a
name as memorable and as well suited to protecting the poor and downtrodden.

It also can act as a filter sometime... the kinds of folks would write me
off or shut me down on the basis of my name alone are probably not the sort
of folks I want to mess with in the first place. The open-minded and
lunatic fringe are where I"m comfortable apparently. :)

Fun fact: in my law school class we also had a Tony Dorsett and a Jason
Alexander. :) I've never been able to get the story out of the Selection
Committee about how THAT happened. :)

Back to the topic at hand, Motel6 may be an option. Bloodstains and
cockroaches don't scare me none, as long as there aren't bedbugs.

Hi Robin,

My name is Steve and I'm in San Antonio. I'm a frequent visitor to the GMC net, but haven't posted before. I read and learn a lot but haven't had any questions or suggestions to post. I really enjoy reading your posts and viewing your videos. If you're still looking for no cost accommodations for your upcoming visit to SA, my wife and I would be honored to have you stay with us.

We live near the SA airport, less than 10 miles from downtown. We have plenty of room in the house, or if you feel like camping our '75 is parked in the driveway.

Please send PM if you want to take us up on the offer, or call 2one0.two3two.7nine8five

Wow, this is great, Steve and Robin. Thanks for posting public Steve. It is so good when we can help others along our way.
Now Larry, we have our ancestors verified back to 1712. The name was shortened when the McGregors were being persicuted in Europe. You may call me Gregg. I learned to answer to that when I was in the Service.

When I was stationed in Thailand, in 1964, we had a guy whose last name was Major. He was promoted to Sergant (E-5). During that time, SgtMajors were rare, and probably only three or four in country.
If you needed anything done, you just got him to do the phone calls. Announcing that He was Sergant Major worked like a charm. Things happened quickly.

I got to wonder how much trouble it wou;d be for a member of the bar to change his name.  I note, most doctors and vets - mine included - choose to practice under their maiden name after marriage.  My vet said the change would take forever, entail endless hassle woth various licesnsing boards, and generally wasn't worth it.

Before I got the GMC, Motel 6 was the hostelry of choice for dog shows.  I always made a point to walk him after supper, and always through the biggest crowd of players present.  125 pounds of somewhat leery fluff garners respect among those who sometimes frequent 6es.  "Do he bite"  "Only if someone bothers me - and he really doesn't like lound noises".  Good night's sleep every time.  Several of us once woke a wino who was sleeping it off in the meadow behind the Asheville 6 by circling him and letting the dogs sniff him.  He woke up to six or seven BWDs poking him with their noses, silent, looking for pets but he didn't know that.  He caught the next freight that came by.

Same sort of deal for those of us tagged as "Juniors" or "III" and so on;. Technically, I guess, after Dad dies we lose the Jr, but too much effort to change it all.

Robin,

I dare you to tell the story of when you met Dana!

I can't speak for the Motel 6's in San Antonio but I've never had any bug problems (including wasps) at the one I stay at in Humble.

Dan

Dan,

I guess I have you beat by a little. My family came over here in 1692 on the ship Assurance. He was my 11th great grandfather, his wife and two children came with him.

Wow, that is awesome Gene. My folks migrated from Va. And the Carolinas. Will have to visit at Tx. About this.
I still am glad we saw an offer for Robbin pop up so quick. And, from someone who just lurks along.

Odd, I didn't get Steve's post (I'm an email subscriber) but now that i see
it replied-back-to, yes! Woot! Huzzah! :) I'll get in touch with you via
your phone number. :) Thank you, Steve!

Can I interview you and your wife about your coach, and post it to Youtube?
:) I can "sing for my supper" figuratively speaking. :)
