Hello,
I am from Germany, new to the list, and looking for a GMC. LOTS of
information already digested, but one thing leaves me wondering:
What about tall people? I am 197cm (6'5"-6'6") and wondering, if anyone
knows of anyone my size or taller, that slept comfortable in a GMC for a
longer period of time, say 4-6weeks?
Any and all help/information is greatly appreciated.

Hi Peer;
Welkomen!
I'm a bit shorter than you-6'4" -and sleep very comfortable in my coach. My bunk runs the nearly the width of the coach less the 'blanket box' which is located at the head of the bed. This structure is about 8 inches deep and also serves as a shelf/nightstand affair for my clock radio and phone.
Length of the bed is not an issue. For the bigger guys, the issue is your partner crawling over you at night to get to the bathroom! That seems to be my partners biggest complaint anyway, and I've heard others mention the same.
I lived in my coach for nearly 6 months when relocating to a new city a few years ago with little trouble. It gave me a new appreciation of the, 'minimalist,' life-when you realize that maybe one doesn't really need the 10 tons of possessions we tend to accumulate in life.
I know that there are a few GMC's in Germany from memory of discussions here. I think Jim Bounds at the GMC Coop has serviced them before they were shipped.

If you can find one with the U-shaped rear dinette, you'll gain back the space lost to the 'blanket box'. The rear bed in my Royale spans the entire rear width.

Is that with regular rear queen bed? From searching the mailing list for
dimensions I can back with a width of ~188cm for the rear beds. I guess
that's without the box, is it?

Luckily, I might be tall, but not very big ;)

How true! I toured 1,5years through the States in a Miata. 10 weeks with
a friend my size. I know that I don't need a lot of stuff :)

The bed is actually longer than a standard queen bed in North America, anyway. I'd say that the bed as I have it currently configured is close to 7 ft long.
It's an inch or two narrower than a standard queen, but I use fitted sheets from the queen bed at home and can manage to get it to fit over the three pads that make up the bed.
My coach originally had a dinette at the rear with the fold-over system to bring the backs into the centre to form the bed. I very, very rarely use the rear dinette so I converted it to the standard table with the removable leg in the middle. I don't think I've used that space as a dinette in the past 8 years. would much rather eat outside when we're parked, and I have a small pocket table and two chairs at the front that usually serves as dinner table when required.

There are 2 for sale on mobile.de, one seems very expensive in what seems to be original state and the other very costly with the diesel engine, but maybe you know about others?

Not really. atm my priorities are mechanically stable, working
appliances. Don't care much about outside optics atm. A dry bath would
be very nice.

I am looking at the US market. The idea is, to buy one, keep it stored
in the US, and visit it every year or so for vacationing. And maybe one
day moving it over to Germland.

Below you will find a list of the coaches that came with rear twins and the dimensions of those beds:
1) Royale by Coachman (Measured John Sharpe's Royale):
Passenger side: 73.25 inches x 33 inches
Driver side: 73 inches x 33 inches
2) Avion by Avion (Measured my Avion):
Passenger side: 75 inches x 34 inches
Driver side: 74 inches x 34 inches
3) Edgemont by GMC (Measured one at Michael Bozardt's shop last year and another one at the Tulsa Lunch Bunch's rally at the Balloon
Festival) GMC also built some Kingsley's with rear twins also and it is safe to assume they would be the same.
Passenger side: 77 inches by 36 inches
Driver side: not measured
As far as the dry bath goes be advised the I am 6' 1 1/2" tall and have to be careful not to hit my head on the light in the shower
of my Avion which has a dry bath. The light sticks down into the shower about 1/2".
I have used the shower in a Royale and it's the same. I suspect all the showers in dry bath models are the same size.

The permanent rear bed models just need the "pantry" on the passenger side removed to make room for a North American "full XL" mattress, which is 54" X 80". (That's 137 cm X 203 CM metric)

Good morning Gary,

I understand, that you have lengthened the GMC. With a lengthened body
you receive more space to mount longer beds. So, if I am looking at a
regular GMC bed it doesn't help that a stretched GMC is capable of
providing a very long place to sleep on. Does what I say, make sense?

Best place to get a ton of information.
A bed across the back of the MH can be 54" (1.372m) wide by as long as 90" (2.286m), wall to wall.
To me the dry bath shower was built for munchkins or pole beans persons, I can get in it, but a person better not be claustrophobic. I met one owner who was using that shower as a storage closet.

Not obvious from most discussions of "dry bath" is the fact that there are
at least two variants:
The GMC-fitted coaches may have a fiberglass shower stall with a
swinging door. To me, at 6'2" 230#, that would be worthless because I
could never bathe below the knees. I think that's the one Adrien's
describing.
The other variant is that in Coachmen-fitted coaches (23' Birchavens
and 26' Royales). That is a shower over a fiberglass tub, made from
conventional RV components. While having even less headroom than the GMC
version, it has a lot more lateral space, and is fitted with a seat so that
one can sit down and reach the feet, etc. It also has a flexible shower
curtain allowing more lateral movement. That's what I have.

Initially I liked the rear bath idea, but the more I think about it, the
more I prefer the twin bed arrangement in the back, plus a dry bath in
the side. Even though I am a bit taller, I wait only about 200lbs.
